A CHARACTER OR SCENE THAT APPEARED DIFFERENTLY IN THE MOVIE
PROMPT RESPONSE
One character who appeared differently in the movie than I imagined while reading fences was Troy. When I was reading the play, I imagined Troy as very serious and strict person, but seeing him in the movie made his personality feel stronger and more realistic. His facial expressions, tone of voice, and body language made it easier to understand how confident and stubborn he could be. I also noticed how his interactions with Cory and Rose showed emotions that were harder to picture while reading. The movie helped me see Troy as more than just a strict father because I could actually see the emotions behind his words and actions.
SUMMARY
The movie changed the way I understood Troy because I could see and hear his personality instead of only imagining it from the words in the book. His serious attitude, strong, personality, and complicated relationships with his family became more noticeable. Some scenes felt more intense in the movie because the actor's voices, expressions, and movements showed emotions that I had imagined differently while reading.
REFLECTION
Watching the movie helped me understand Troy's character on a deeper level. While reading, I created my own picture of what Troy looked and acted like, but the movie gave me a different version of him. I realized that the way an actor delivers a line can completely change how I understand a character's feelings. The movie also made me pay more attention to Troy's relationship with Rose and Cory because I could see their reactions during their conversations. Overall, the movie did not completely change my understanding of Troy, but it made his personality and emotions much easier for me to visualize and understand.
